E. ‘Tropical Topaz’ is one of the very few gesneriads with yellow flowers. It is considered to be a yellow-flowered sport of E. cupreata var. viridifolia, and has been collected in the wild in Panama.
Although it flowers sparingly, the brilliant green leaves provide an attractive basket plant even without flowers. Like most episcias ‘Tropical Topaz’ requires fairly high humidity and warm temperatures. This specimen was grown in a humid greenhouse.
