A colony of these plants were growing next to Dunn’s River Falls in Jamaica, a popular tourist destination. G. acaulis is a shrubby species, larger growing and with much larger leaves than some of the species long in cultivation, such as G. cuneifolia. It has more similarity to species such as G. christii and G. ventricosa.
