Exhibited at the 2010 convention of the Gesneriad Society.

Gesneria ‘Yellow Bird’ is an old hybrid by the late Maryjane Evans of G. pedunculosa and G. citrina. It has fairly dark glossy foliage and relatively tall strong stems like G. peduculosa and attractive yellow flowers like G. citrina. The flower shape is more like the G. peduculosa parent. It is possible both parents were collected by Maryjane from the vicinity of the Areceibo Observatory in Puerto Rico, which she had visited and where both species grow.
