Easy to grow. This species sends a single stem straight up, and keeps leaves only on the upper end. This might be an adaptation to growing in tall grass? It makes it a poor horticultural subject though. The plant is colorful, with yellow flowers, purple calyx, green leaves on red petioles. Bill Saylor tried for years to use this species to breed a good yellow nematanthus hybrid.
