This is another illustration of the shrubby nature of some species of Sinningia. The shrubbiness may have been a factor in its original attribution to Vanhouttea. 

It is not hard to grow, but it does not bloom readily.  Blooming period is winter.  It needs lots of light in summer to bloom, but that can damage the foliage.
