Opithandra is a genus of alpine plants, which will tolerate winter frost with a good snow cover or other mulch, and if they are protected from wet conditions. They are natives of Japan, and according to Mr. Okuto grow on rocky cliffs. They make good rock garden plants in an appropriate climate. A white-flowered form of O. primuloides is also available on the site.
